I actually want socks for christmas. Not just any socks, mind you, but those really comfortable combat boot socks sold at the PX. Anyone who's been in the military should know the one's I'm talking about, the nice soft yet tough ones with the green thread in the toes. The problem is I _can't_remember_ the brand name! "Bob" in Dobbstown, this is annoying. Anyone who knows the answer, reveal it unto me! Everyone else, watch This.

Update: I've got it, they were Burlington socks! Sadly, the specific ones I want don't seem to be on the website. Are they some sort of AAFES/PX exclusive, or something?

You are 30 now, I guess your can grow up now, if you really want to... I'll ask Chris Williams at work if he knows which socks you are talking about. These socks are black, with green thread sewn toes, available at clothing sales or the px? What size do you need? I can't remember if you have sasquatchian feet like bobmage or a more normal size.

My boot size is 9 1/2 wide, and the sock labels actually have the recommended size range on them, instead of just "small", "medium" or "large".

Beth or Aunt Dot will pick you up Thursday at national. The great Dot will be down here for Christmas. They are coming out here that afternoon to take the kids to a movie for their combined Christmas/Birthday presents. Yeah, less presents with small parts this year...

I'm trying to track down the same socks. They were sold a pair at a time, and appear to be almost all cotton. They went up almost to your knee and were sold for specific boot sizes. I checked out the Burlington site, but I'm not sure if the ones we're looking for are on the site. I'm going to call Burlington. I emailed Burlington's customer service, and they told me the socks were indeed a PX exlusive, and I'd have to order them from AAFES. Of course, not being in the Army any more makes this impossible. Luckily, my big sister LAura is still in the Air Force, so she should be able to get them for me. See, officers _are_ good for something!
