Just finished reading Frank Miller's Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again. Seldom have I been so underwhelmed. It wasn't all _that_ bad, really; Taken in isolation, it would have been a reasonably entertaining read. But as a sequel to the classic Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, it fails on every possible level. More than anything else, it reads more like Warren Ellis parodying Kingdom Come. After dropping 'shrooms. And asking a drunken Brian Michael Bendis for dialog assists. It's so very sad when a formerly gifted artist starts to believe their own press and spirals down into inadvertent self-parody. You know the really sad thing? His fanboys will _still_ claim it was the most brilliant creation he ever made. :-P
