Sigh. I was supposed to be out partying last night. As this is likely to be my last weekend before Iraq, I wanted to make the most of it. So, after work, I lay down for a "short" nap, after setting my alarm for 7:30 PM. Next thing I know, It's 6:55 AM. My alarm was still set, so I must have slept through a half hour of hellish blaring. Dammit, I'm getting OLD.

Ordinarily, I'm very careful to avoid using the word "Bitch" to describe any woman. It's a much more effective insult when leveled at misogynistic, homophobic rednecks anyway. But I can't think of any word that better describes that psychotic, evil, waste of skin Ann Coulter. I hate her with a mad passion, really I do.

With that in mind, I am NOT going to join [livejournal.com profile] anti_anncoulter, because my blood pressure is high enough as it is. Instead, I encourage anyone reading this to check out that community, and contribute their own vitriol. God, do I hate that woman. I hope she dies a horrible death, of completely natural causes. Or better yet, I hope her demise takes the form of unmistakable divine retribution. Just so long as no mortal hands are involved, because much as her death would benefit mankind, I don't want any decent person to go to jail because of her.

I've been thinking. The two most important articles of NRA dogma are that private gun ownership will A) Prevent the rise of oppressive governments, and B) Enable the citizenry to resist foreign invasion.

Now, over in Iraq, even before the war, there was an extremely high number of privately owned weapons. Even for people who weren't legally allowed to own them, acquiring them was trivially easy. Yet a tyrannical government still managed to hold onto power for decades. So dogma # 1 is categorically disproven. OTOH, without those weapons, the insurgency wouldn't be as effective as it is, so dogma #2 stands proven. Ironic, innit?

I've spent several hours packing my stuff, and in so doing, boxing it up such that, in the event of my death, the right people get the right stuff. For example, I wouldn't want my mom to get any "Mature readers only" comic books. In the course of this endeavor, I realized how much of my stuff, all of which seemed like the coolest things in the universe when I first aquired them, is really complete junk. When I get back from Iraq, I SWEAR I will sort through it and get rid of/give away at least a third of it. Of course, I said that last time too.

Most clothing stores, the anti-theft tags release a dull purple or black dye. Hot Topic anti-theft tags release a bright, fluorescent green, that glows under black light! My guess is that this is because so much of their stock is black. I learned this because my latest purchase from that establishment, the clerk forgot to remove the tag.
