Ya wanna know something that annoys me?

People who talk about how 'sexist' and 'racist' our Western culture is, comparing it negatively to non-Western societies. Many of these people idolize "purer", less "corrupted"/industrialized cultures without really understanding anything about them, and without realizing that most historical cultures were a HELL of a lot more hidebound, xenophobic, and misogynistic than ours. Even among contemporary cultures, the West is a metaphorical Beacon of Tolerance and Light.

You want to complain about oppression? Fine, I'm all for Justice, Equality, and All That Good Stuff. Tell me that racism, sexism, and poverty are big problems, I will whole-heartedly agree. But for "Bob"s sake, don't claim that our society is _worse_ than the likes of China, India, or the Middle East.
