Well, being amused by the whole thing, I blew up the picture to 1500%, then I found a link to a picture of an acutal pin http://www.dli-alumni.org/dli_lapelpin.htm The pin he is wearing appaers to be missing the flame on the top and scroll work on the bottom. It also appears that the diagonl bar is green rather gold.
