Many thankyou's to the fine folk over at Oni Press. They sent me a _BIG_ box of free books, and I didn't even ask! Well, OK, I asked for one book, and they sent me 20. What wonderful guys. :-) Especially treasured will be the Blue Monday books, written by [livejournal.com profile] girlmod. It's one of the most incredibly awesome comics ever written, and there's nary a cape nor cowl in it. READ IT! NOW!!!!

Also, welcome my favorite niece Annie to the LiveJournal community. She goes by [livejournal.com profile] musicluvr4ever. I still remember when she was a baby and her favorite passtime was chewing on her toes. Then she turned into a toddler, and her favorite pastime was to try and stick said toes into _other_ people's mouths, and then laugh uproariously... :-)

Mike, I'm getting another box ready, what exercise stuff did you want? I've been looking for the original message, but it seems to have been deleted from wherever I read it last.
I'm having trouble with the pony though - na matter how I try to slice one up, I can't fit it neatly into a box. Would pony jerky do? What seasonings do you want on it? (And now the petting zoo is on to me, and has hired a security guard.) Maybe an inflatable pony?

Yeah, it can keep the inflatable sheep company... ;-)

Mike, I just mailed off a package full of healthy munchies. Look for it within the next few months. *G* (Actually, how long DO they take to get through?)

Yay! Between 10 and 14 days, usually. How's things back in the real world?

The real world, where people wear whatever they want and the male:female ratio isn't 400:1 (I'm on a Cav base, no women in combat arms, ya now.). Where you can live free and do strange things to computers and get _paid_ for it!

no women in combat arms

I find this to be amazingly strange, considering how many women die and have died, throughout history, either directly or indirectly as the result of wars. Especially in countries in which women are economically dependent on men, every battlefield death could represent 2-5 other people who are going to starve to death.

But heavens, we can't let women SERVE IN COMBAT, that would be awful. *rolls eyes*

If we let women serve in combat, we'd have to do away with the whole culture of machismo, and then how would we motivate the grunts?

Actually, I'm not even sure THAT would be true-- women can be pretty macho and dumb too. Of course that would just terrify certain men even more than fluffy squeaky women would. :P

Possibly. Personally, I'm all for women being in combat arms, provided they meet identical standards. OTOH, I think women in ALL tactical units should also be required to be on birth control, so that 'convenient' deployment vetoing pregnancies don't happen as much.

While I don't feel okay with *requiring* the use of birth control (what if their preferred method is abstinence? not everyone has trouble keeping it out of their pants *G*), I can definitely see severe penalties for turning up preggers, coupled with PROVIDING optional but very cheap birth control in a variety of forms.

Of course, it's conservatives who fund the military, so I'm guessing this will not be very likely anytime in the foreseeable future. :P

Pushup stands. Sit up foot holder, of the type that clamps onto doors. A free standing pullup bar, if you can find such a thing. And a battery operated nose hair trimmer, preferably one that has swappable tips so it can double as a hair trimmer. And I think I have enough zip loc bags for now. :-)
