I hereby announce a fatwa on the f*(&%ng bozos at the LSA Anaconda post office. About 2 weeks after my zip code changed a few months ago, they started refusing to forward mail to the new one. This, despite the fact that there is A SINGLE DIGIT'S DIFFERENCE between the two addresses. I sent change of address forms to everyone, but obviously some of them didn't get through. How do I know this? Funny you should ask...

About the time of the address change, I sent in a payment to a credit card company, which should have brought my balance to zero. With my balance assumed to be at zero, I wasn't concerned when I didn't get any statements from them for several months. However, another month's interest had accrued between the time I sent the check and the time they received it. Big deal, 3 bucks, I'd have sent in another check if I'd known. I did NOT know, because of those G)(&^%NED MORONS at Anaconda. Now, I am going to have to pay $102 in late fees, because they could not be bothered to do their damned jobs. This, dear friends, is why people get 'fragged'.

Have a wonderful time!

Write a letter and complain. I just got through with a very similar situation with Citibank. I had paid off a balance in full, but apparently the deli downstairs takes forever to submit their receipts. On an $8.54 balance (I must have been cashless one day at lunch), they were trying to charge me $161 in late fees.

I wrote them a letter (enclosing a check for $8.54) and that seems to have done the trick. Write one. Dig around on the web and address it to a VP of customer relations. Point out that you are a soldier deployed in Iraq and that APO mail is sometimes very slow. Enclose a check for the $3. I suspect they'll wipe the fees.

What my husband said.

It would look very, very bad for them to do such a thing to a member of our armed forces.02

Our cat Zevo added that "02." Clearly she was trying to put her two cents in! Heh.

there are federal laws about interest rates charged to active duty deployed armed services personnel. maybe kakiphony would know the precise references.

the credit card people SHOULD give deployed soldiers/airmen/sailors a break on this.

ask your legal advisor if the below info from www.military.com applies.

"SCRA: Interest Rate Limits

One of the most significant provisions under the Servicemember's Civil Relief Act (SCRA) limits the amount of interest that may be collected on debts of persons in military service to 6 percent per year during the period of military service.

The expanded SCRA further states that no interest above 6 percent can accrue for credit obligations while on active duty, nor can that excess interest become due once the servicemember leaves active duty – instead that portion above 6 percent is permanently forgiven. Furthermore, the monthly payment must be reduced by the amount of interest saved during the covered period."
