The hardened criminal throwing the detonator away, I saw coming. The solid citizen also backing down, I didn't expect, but in hindsight, that's the only way the scene could have worked.
I was guessing that they had the detonators to their OWN ships, and that the convict was going to accidentally blow themselves up -- it would be just like the Joker to do that.
I was thinking the same thing--and was therefore rooting for the solid citizen to detonate after the hardened criminal threw his away :) But in hindsight the oh-look-people-are-good thing was a little obvious.
actually, it's perfectly possible that they had their own ship's detonator. since they were never used, we'll never know exactly which way the Joker went...
and it's so cliche too. big scary black man is not what you think! yes writer/director, we get it: you've moved beyond racism and racist stereotypes. yay! now can we please move on from you moving on? I swear that is in every movie now. yawn.
in other news, we went to see it on Imax and it broke!!! they herded us into regular normal size theater and gave us free passes. It's my punishment for bragging about going to Imax.
