Henrico Medal of Honor winner, 90, ordered to remove flagpole. Though really, the fact that the homeowner in question is a MoH winner shouldn't matter, it would be equally reprehensible for the petty tyrants of that homeowners association to order ANY patriotic American not to fly their flag.

They aren't preventing him from flying the flag. He can have the cheap flag pole that is attached to the front of his house. The HOA just doesn't like a full flagpole on his front lawn.

HOAs suck. My husband is on ours, mostly to try to prevent it from doing anything too bad. We did manage to allow one guy to install a transparent outer door to his door to increase his unit's energy efficiency, but the fact that it took, like, three months just to convince people to approve something which you can't even see and helps the environment and saves someone money is rather telling.
