Just got a call saying that my niece Shayla was in a car accident. She suffered a broken skull, but she's not in life-threatening danger. She's already out of the hospital, and convalescing with her grandparents. Good thing she inherited her dad's hard head, I guess. He mom will be in surgery soon, but is also expected to be OK. There's only one thing to do, and thats to buy the wee one toys to take her mind off the owies. Good thing Lego makes Castle Duplo's these days.

Wow I really hope everyone is ok! That's a very scary situation. Thankfully the baby wasn't too terribly hurt. A fractured skull is often more frightening than it is life threatening. As for mommy, a fractured pelvis is no fun, but I'm sure she'll bounce back just fine after surgery and physical therapy. Give everyone my best and I hope for short recoveries for all!

If she takes after her dad, the hardest part of her recovery will be keeping her from running, jumping, and doing cartwheels before the doctors give the OK. Both her adopted and biological kin are a hard-headed bunch, she'l be fine!

If she is a typical kid, she'll be hard to keep still... When Billy fell 2+ years ago, they told me to keep him from running, climbing, etc until his 6 wk check-up. I asked them if they were going to sedate him for 6 weeks?
