Is Scotland. And it's official!

I particularely liked the part where it said:

"Detective Chief Superintendent John Carnochan, head of the Strathclyde Police’s violence reduction unit, said the problem was chronic and restricting access to drink and limiting the sale of knives would at least reduce the problem."

Because confiscating all the guns worked SOOO well. Imagine the violence levels if everyone was still packing heat! :-P

Why is it that government officials think they can solve all their crime problems by banning things? You would think that they would learn their lesson from Prohibition. All banning things does is put more power in the hands of criminals, and makes otherwise law abiding citizens into criminals.

Because government is run by lawyers, who are more concerned with words on paper than they are with physical reality?

Most violent?

I thought that little joyous title went to us. Everyone has always said we are the most violent open society in the world. That Scotland is, surprises me. Guns don't change attitudes, just makes it easier to kill if that is what you want to do. But if you really want to kill, you can grab a piece of wood and do the job. It is the same thing that the one-eyed man in a world of blind people is king. In a world of unarmed people, the one who knows how to kill and maim, and will, is in charge because he can be.
