I can't find my heat gun. As all people of culture and distinction know, the only way to get a really _good_ shine on a pair of boots is to use a source of intense heat to melt the polish into the leather. Since fire can singe, and I don't want to risk sticking my new boots into the oven (The soles are wonderfully tough-yet-cushiony, but I have no idea how heat tolerant they are), a heat gun set on "medium" is the only alternative. But I can't find mine. I may have had the poor judgement to give it away. Grrr....

While I'm on the subject of boots, I must take a minute to shill for Belleville, who make the best combat boots ever. Durable yet supremely comfortable, you can actually run 2 miles in them and not worry about shin splints. The sole has enough grip that I've actually climbed trees in mine, and felt more secure than I would wearing sneakers. Plus, they gave me free shipping when I ordered replacement boots in Iraq. Go buy a pair or two today!

Cuz you're not a tanker? Cuz you are a tanker, and they hate you for it? Cuz tanker boots make their wearers look like leather-slaves?

Hey I didn't know about that pointer, but I'm glad I do now. I'm sure I still have a long way to go before I could possibly be considered a person of culture and distinction though (LOL). Do they make those boots for women? I may be in the market for some new boots....someday...when I have money...

The boots are un-gendered, but the sizing system is most similiar to regular "men's" work boots. Be aware that this particular manufacturer's sizes run a little large, but they're pretty good about accepting returns, provided you haven't actually worn them yet. Other than to try them on, of course.

Gank a girl's high-powered hairdryer. C'mon, you live in one of those uncivilized places where girls have very large hair, you know that the REAL dryers suck down 10 amps and deliver a wide range of temp & velocity - how else do you think they get their hair that big & scary?

Do they still have big hair? My sisters don't, and they even live in the country where fashions are slow to catch up....Its good to have a hair dryer there though anyway, for use in removing ice from locks, drying longish hair before leaving the house so it doesn't freeze and break off...

When [livejournal.com profile] chaotic_nipple was little, our older sister would wash her hair in the morning and it would freeze at the bus stop. Then she'd comb the ice/frost out and it would be dry.
